Every commit going forward cites which of the four moats it advanced. This file is the **append-only ledger** of those advances, grouped by moat. The purpose is two-fold: 1. **Accountability.** A glance at this file tells you which moat is starving for investment. 2. **Compounding visibility.** Year-over-year, this file becomes the proof of what got built and why. Allowed moat values per commit footer: `Data`, `Standards`, `Distribution`, `Velocity`, `Quality` (cross-cutting), `None` (small fixes — keep rare). The ratchet `scripts/check-moat-citation.ts` warns when "None" exceeds 30% of the last 50 commits.
